Joy Lambert

Joy is a Vice President in Edelman’s Crisis & Risk practice, where she advises C-suite leaders on cybersecurity, reputation, and other high-stakes issues. A former Emmy- and Edward R. Murrow Award-winning investigative journalist, she later served as Communications Director for the FBI’s field offices in Oregon, Maryland, and Delaware, holding Top-Secret clearance and leading both proactive and reactive crisis responses nationwide.

Since joining Edelman, Joy has guided Fortune 500 retailers, national health plans, and global publishers through headline-making data breaches and ransomware attacks, while also counseling iconic brands facing workplace misconduct investigations and complex regulatory challenges. She designs bespoke tabletop simulations, develops clear, resilient messaging that withstands scrutiny from lawmakers and reporters, and delivers CEO- and board-level media coaching—most recently preparing a CEO for a TIME 100 honoree interview.

During her four years with the FBI, Joy helped shape the public narrative around some of the Bureau’s most sensitive investigations—including major cyber intrusions, active-shooter incidents, aviation disasters, infrastructure failures, and the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. She served on the FBI Public Affairs Officer Board, conducted crisis tabletop exercises for internal teams and external partners, and provided on-camera and interview coaching to FBI leadership as well as DOJ, state, and local spokespeople.

Earlier in her career, Joy was a nationally recognized TV news anchor and reporter, earning eight Emmy Awards, two Edward R. Murrow Awards, and multiple other honors. She has guest-lectured at the University of Maryland and spoken at journalism and communications conferences nationwide. Her reporting featured exclusive interviews with global figures and frontline coverage of crises ranging from active-shooter events to large-scale cyberattacks.
