National Association of Stock Car Racing (NASCAR)
Matt Nordby is the Senior Director of Track Communications for the National Association of Stock Car Racing (NASCAR). In this role, he leads the strategic communications direction across all NASCAR-owned racetracks as part of a centralized marketing and communications team focused on further integrating racetracks into local communities, driving revenue and maximizing attendance. Before joining NASCAR in October of 2011, he served as the Manager of Business and Broadcast Communications for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2007-2011.
During his time at NASCAR, Matt has worked across several other Integrated Marketing Communications departments supporting a variety of business functions, including NASCAR Broadcasting, Digital Media, Entertainment Marketing and NASCAR Productions. He was part of the NASCAR Communications team that won PR Week’s “In House PR Team of the Year” in 2015.
He started his career in sports in the media relations department for the Iowa Cubs in Des Moines, IA, where he worked for five seasons.
Matt graduated from Iowa State University in 2002 with a double degree in marketing and management information systems. During his time at Iowa State, he was also a member of the baseball team through the 2001 season. His wife is also an ISU alum and Iowa native. They have one son and currently reside in Charlotte, NC.
