Group Communications & External Relations Director

With a background in broadcast, agency and in-house roles, Tamara has extensive communications experience and is currently Group Director of Communications and External Relations at Virgin, working across global communications for Sir Richard Branson and the Virgin Group. From Space to Financial Services, the Virgin Group spans 40 branded companies across 35 countries and employs over 60,000 people.
Prior to joining Virgin, Tamara worked as a Researcher, Presenter and Director for ITV1 West Country (previously Carlton Television) - working across a range of regional and national programmes – from News and Current Affairs to Music and Extreme Sports. She then worked for Nike and MTV1 on the launch of their national #justaddmoves campaign. She then moved into the PR agency world, working across a range of clients from the Ariel Fashion Awards to the Learning and Skills Council.
Tamara also led an award-winning communications team at the British Heart Foundation, overseeing policy, news, ambassador recruitment and fundraising media relations, including leading strategic communications campaigns for the organisation.
She has a degree in English Literature and Politics, a post-graduate certificate in journalism and is a proud graduate of the W50 Santander and UCLA leadership programme. She was also included in the PR Week Power Book 2024.
